Dikes and putters

From the 18th century, large stones from Scandinavia protected the outer slope of the dike, nowadays rubble and asphalt. In the museum it is shown that stone setters were clever stong men. You can see how a dike is built and how the water management in the polders is regulated. And finally, we show you the consequences of the flood disaster in 1953 on Texel.
